Treehouse Living on Staten Island?

We were driving down a road that we had never traveled in Staten Island, and low and behold, we discovered this amazing treehouse on De Groot Street. I wonder if someone actually lives there? It could use a coat of paint and a few repairs but anyone who ever dreamed of living in a treehouse as a child will agree that this is the one they would want. I would paint it purple and green. I bet it even has a view of Manhattan from up there.

  1. I was surfing on the mysibor.com site and came across this house that I thought you might want to see. It's in Snug Harbor and it's beautiful! Check out MLS #1034289

PS: I'm not affiliated with the owner or the real estate office; I just think the house is amazing.

  2. That IS a nice house! I'll put it up. I love Snug Harbor. Cafe Botanica is the best place to get brunch on the island.

  3. I love Snug too. I'm lucky enough to be w/in walking distance, so I'm there all the time. My husband and can rarely resist Cafe B. It's the first place we bring friends who are brave enough to venture out here.

BTW, if you're looking for options there's another cute place for brunch on the corner of Castleton and Pelton. I think it's called Peking Latte Cafe (or I could be totally making that up, I'm not sure). The atmosphere isn't quite as relaxing as at Botanica, but they try.

  5. Hi everybody, I currently live in Astoria, Queens, and rents are going sky high. I live in a non rent stab. apt, so landlord is allowed to raise the rent as much as he wants, I was wondering if anybody can recommend a good area in Staten Island. Was checking craigslist, and rents seem pretty reasonable, can I get any imput...I am very concerned about safety, so a safe area, that has an easy commute to the city would be great! Thank you everybody!!!

  7. I recommend St. George. That is where I bought my house. St. George is where the ferry is located. It is also safe and very pretty. Make sure that you pick a good block though. Some blocks are safer than others. Another nice area is St. Paul's Ave. It is a little walk from the ferry but it has gorgeous homes. Good luck with your search!
